WriMoFoFo Challenge
The WriMoFoFo (Write More For Four) Challenge is my writers group’s response to NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month). We found NaNoWriMo a little limiting, and it always fell at a time when we were all a bit busy, so 50,000 words was too much to ask for most of us.
WriMoFoFo does not limit you to just one piece of writing, nor are you expected to have completed a novel at the end of it. You can set your own writing or editing targets, and it is for four weeks of the year (plus an extra weekend) that generally covers a period when we are all finding it a bit hard to get motivated.
The current challenge runs from June 11th to July 14th 2011.
You can find out more about WriMoFoFo by visiting Lamellae where we are posting our progress (anonymously). Please feel free to join in, this is not just limited to the SuperNova Writers Group!
My target is 21,000 new words -I’ve gone a bit soft this time as I am about to start a new job, so will probably be a bit tired of an evening, and 21,000 works out to an easy-to-graph 700 wods a day. I am looking forward to having 21,000 words in four weeks time that I didn’t have at the start of the challenge, now I just need to get writing. I will update my progress each Monday morning (or as soon as I remember to do so) starting now!
Sunday 12th June - Target 1,400 Actual 750 (4% Complete)
Sunday 19th June – Target 6,300 Actual 3,595 (17% Complete)
Sunday 26th June – Target 11,200 Actual 4,245 (20% Complete)
Sunday 3rd July – Target 16,100 Actual 6,546 (31% Complete)
Sunday 10th July – Target 21,000 Actual 8,656 (41% Complete)
Oh well, not as bad as it could have been. I had a lot of things come at me from left field over this past month, so I’m pretty happy with 41%, hope you had more success than me!
