Baker’s Row 2014 Shiraz

Bakers Row

I liked the label, that’s important to me, but I didn’t like the colour of the wine. It was kind of orangey-red instead of a nice plum red. It also smelled like it was going to be astringent.

My expectations were low.

It didn’t taste astringent at all. I’d actually go so far as to say it was quite smooth. It went down pretty easily and before I knew it I was pouring a second glass. In fact, it went down so well that when I was back a couple of nights later the last of the bottle had been drunk and no-one would own up to it.

I probably wouldn’t take this one to the dinner where you first meet the in-laws, but it is a solid drink to share with friends.

My score: 7/10  Dad’s score: 7.5/10
